In January 2019, Alexander Olaik, 24, of Atlantic City, was arrested for assaulting and robbing a woman at Brighton and Atlantic avenues. The victim reported that Olaik pushed her, stole her cell phone, and, after she pursued him, assaulted her again and took her purse.
At the time of this incident, Olaik was on probation for a previous conviction in Florida, where he had been sentenced in April 2018 for beating his 81-year-old grandmother. Olaik’s criminal history in Florida dates back to when he was 19, involving theft and narcotics possession charges.
Following his arrest in Atlantic City, Olaik pleaded guilty to the 2019 assault and robbery charges and was sentenced to prison, with a release date set for August 2, 2021.
These incidents highlight the challenges of addressing repeat offenses and the complexities involved in managing individuals with extensive criminal backgrounds.
