On April 30, 2020, an Egg Harbor Township couple was arrested on drug charges after being found in a parked car with two infants inside. At approximately 10:41 a.m., Atlantic City police responded to a call reporting a pregnant woman unconscious in a vehicle located in the Renaissance Plaza parking lot on Atlantic Avenue. Upon arrival, Officer Auttika Taing discovered Randi Sleister, who was pregnant, unresponsive in the car alongside Matthew Williford and the two infants. Williford was observed pacing in the parking lot. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and hydrochloride pills, leading to Williford’s arrest. Sleister was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for evaluation, where she was found to be in possession of heroin. Both individuals were charged with drug possession, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Department of Child Protection and Permanency responded to the scene, and the infants were placed with a family member.
