In June 2024, authorities concluded a nine-month investigation into alleged prostitution activities at two spas in Ocean County, leading to the arrest of Kani Peng, 53, of Egg Harbor Township.

The probe, initiated in October 2023, focused on the Rainbow Spa in Barnegat Township and the Bay Spa in Stafford Township. Investigators uncovered evidence that women residing at these establishments were engaging in sexual activities for payment. Peng, identified as the owner and manager of both spas, was frequently observed supplying essential items such as food, clothing, and cleaning supplies. ​

On June 19, 2024, law enforcement executed search warrants at both spas and Peng’s residence. The searches yielded evidence confirming the occurrence of prostitution at the spas and Peng’s awareness and involvement in these illegal activities. Peng was subsequently taken into custody at the Stafford Township spa, processed, and served with charges pending an upcoming appearance in Ocean County Superior Court. ​

This case underscores the collaborative efforts of local and federal agencies in addressing and dismantling illicit operations within the community.
