Community Tips Lead to Arrests and Seizure of Firearms and Narcotics

In March 2025, following community complaints about illegal drug and weapon activities, Hamden police conducted coordinated raids on two businesses along Dixwell Avenue. The operation resulted in the seizure of various narcotics—including crack cocaine, powdered cocaine, fentanyl pills, marijuana, and psilocybin products—and two firearms, one of which was a “ghost gun” equipped with an extended magazine. Bennie Murphy, 34, and Michael Beverly, 32, were arrested on multiple charges related to the possession and intent to distribute controlled substances and firearms. Both individuals were held on substantial bonds, with Murphy’s set at $150,000 and Beverly’s at $75,000.

This operation underscores the effectiveness of community collaboration and law enforcement efforts in addressing public concerns related to illegal activities.
