In June 2020, 17-year-old Curaan Williams was fatally shot on the second-floor balcony of his Blaine Avenue home in Atlantic City. While authorities have not officially released his full name, family members have confirmed his identity.
Investigations suggest that Williams may not have been the intended target. According to court documents, Shaquana Lewis, 35, and her boyfriend, Lewis Johnson, 31, allegedly intended to confront Williams’ foster brother, referred to as “J.H.” The night before the shooting, Lewis’ daughter, “J.C.,” had an altercation with J.H. and Williams. Subsequently, Lewis reportedly made multiple calls threatening J.H., stating intentions to come to his residence, accompanied by Johnson.
On the day of the incident, Lewis allegedly informed J.C. that Johnson was armed and intended to confront “Boogz,” J.H.’s nickname. Johnson exited their vehicle near the intersection of Blaine and Arkansas avenues, approaching the residence where Williams was staying. J.C. walked away but soon heard gunshots, witnessing Johnson fleeing the scene.
Both Lewis and Johnson were apprehended in Pennsylvania the following day and are currently facing murder charges. Johnson also faces additional charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, while Lewis is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
