In early January 2024, a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot on the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. The incident occurred during a disturbance involving several individuals, leading to multiple gunshots. Responding officers found the 14-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head and a 16-year-old boy with a leg injury. Both were transported to a local hospital, where the younger teen succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two 16-year-old Atlantic City residents. One of the suspects, who was also injured in the shooting, faces charges including aggravated assault and firearm-related offenses. Both juveniles are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
