In December 2019, a serious incident unfolded at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City hotel when 64-year-old Majocyline Tan from Edison allegedly stabbed her 72-year-old husband multiple times before turning the knife on herself. Security personnel responded to a disturbance call and discovered the couple with significant stab wounds in their hotel room. Both individuals were promptly transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and were expected to survive their injuries.
Following the incident, Tan was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. She remained under police supervision at the medical facility during her hospitalization.
The Atlantic City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section led the ensuing investigation. Authorities have not released the name of Tan’s husband, and it remains unclear whether she retained legal counsel.
